    Dear Mr. Zed,

Let me introduce myself. I’m a historian from the Netherlands. Currently I’m writing a book about the life of Raymond Paul Pierre Westerling, the former commander of the Special Forces of the Dutch army.

For my book I’m trying to find information about Chia Piet Kay, or even better interview him when he is still alive. Chia financed Westerling’s coup and provided him a place to hide in his house in Singapore when he had to flee after his APRA coup failed. Unfortunately I have not many leads. The only details I have about Chia Piet Kay are: Westerling met Chia in Medan, Sumatra, around 1945. Close to Pacet on Java, the two started a transportation company in 1949 with old army trucks. Chia than moved to Singapore, where he lived in the city centre. Westerling was arrested in his house on february 26 1950.

In your book Ahmad Husein: perlawanan seorang pejuang you link Chia Piet Kay to Ahmad Husein, Head of the Revolutionary Government of the Republic Indonesia. Unfortunately I couldn’t read your book as it’s not available in the Netherlands. But at http://www.books.google.com I could read a few small selections. As you are expert on Ahmad Husein and a well known and respectable person of public life of the Republic of Indonesia I wonder if you could provide me with anymore information about Chia Piet Kay.

Maybe with your help I could fill this gap in the historiography of Indonesia and the Netherlands. Any information is welcome!

    With kind regards,

    Fredrik Willems
